NVIDIA stock reaches historic highs amid AI boom

Unstoppable Rise

NVIDIA's stock has gained over 400% in the past two years, driven by insatiable demand for its AI training chips. The H100 and new H200 GPUs power the majority of AI infrastructure worldwide, from ChatGPT to enterprise AI applications.

CEO Jensen Huang announced that the company has sold out of chips through 2026, with customers including Microsoft, Google, Amazon, and Meta competing for allocation. The supply shortage has forced customers to plan purchases years in advance.

Revenue Explosion

Q4 revenue is expected to exceed $35 billion, more than triple the same quarter last year. Data center revenue, which includes AI chips, now accounts for 85% of total sales, up from 50% just three years ago.

Profit margins have expanded to nearly 75%, among the highest of any major technology company. The company's efficiency stems from its dominant market position and the high value customers place on AI capabilities.

Competitive Landscape

Despite efforts by AMD, Intel, and custom chip developers at major tech companies, NVIDIA maintains over 90% market share in AI training chips. Its CUDA software ecosystem creates significant switching costs for developers.

Analysts see limited near-term threats to NVIDIA's dominance, though long-term competition from custom silicon and emerging architectures could eventually impact market share.

Future Outlook

With the AI revolution still in early stages, analysts project continued growth for NVIDIA. The company is expanding into new markets including autonomous vehicles, robotics, and edge AI devices.
