Argonne, Fermilab, and Oak Ridge National Laboratories are now connected by quantum links using entangled photons. The network enables quantum key distribution that is theoretically impossible to intercept.
Technology
The network uses quantum repeaters to maintain entanglement over hundreds of miles. Previous attempts were limited to tens of kilometers. The breakthrough enables continental-scale quantum communication.
Applications
